Scottish Snowdrop Festival 1 Feb - 11 Mar 2007

Perthshire

From the Latin name meaning 'milk flower', these tiny green and white flowers are amongst the first blossoms to emerge in the new year. In the mid 19th century soldiers in the Crimean War brought them back from the battlefields to plant in their gardens. Today they thrive throughout Scotland, in gardens, damp woods and on river banks. VisitScotland has teamed up with gardens around the country to bring you the first ever Scottish Snowdrop Festival. At locations throughout Scotland, you’ll find snowdrop after snowdrop, bringing brightness and magic to your day.

Stairwell Sisters 02 February 2007
Birnam Institute Birnam
8pm
The Stairwell Sisters, five sassy good-time gals, are currently the hottest act on America's old-time and bluegrass music circuit. Reviewers have been having great fun trying to describe what it is that makes this such an entertaining show. They've been called "rowdy, wild and funky" and like "a hurricane". Serving up energetic musicianship, tight vocal arrangements and red-hot buckdancing, this is a kicking quintet. From the company who brought out the sell out shows Laura Boosinger and The Crooked Road, come and experience The Stairwell Sisters.

The Little Foxes 2 - 17 February 2007
Perth Theatre Perth
7.45pm, Sat Matinee 2.30pm
Dynasty meets Gone with the Wind in this gripping tale of greed, power and corruption, famously brought to life by Bette Davis in the 40s movie of the same name. The setting is America's deep south, post-Civil War. The focus is the prosperous but greedy Hubbard family - cold-hearted Regina and her scheming brothers, Regina’s ailing husband and her na├»ve daughter, Alexandra. Plans to build a cotton mill on their land signal a chance for greater wealth. The sibling rivalry that ensues shows human nature at its worst as the family plot against each other and try to outwit each other in their frenzied fortune hunting. Goodies, baddies, winners, losers — it's sophisticated soap! A great American play of the last century.
