My family and I really enjoyed our time at the Nestings. We enjoyed sitting in the bay windows of the upper flat and watching the activity in the marina. We also enjoyed taking walks along the harbor wall, as well as walking out to the cliffs or along past the football field to the beach. We were already familiar with the Brewhouse and we tried the new restaurant by the harbor. We really enjoyed the local flavor of the Commercial Inn. We found the accommodation to be very comfortable and were very impressed with the modern efficiency of the place. We would certainly consider staying at the Nestings again or would recommend it to others.
Thank you, Heather LaFleur USA Picture by Keith White guest at the Nestings
The Dupplin Cross is a famous carved Pictish stone, which dates from early 820 ce. It was first recorded by Thomas Pennant in 1769, on a hillside in Strathearn, near Forteviot and Dunning. It can be found inside St Serf's church in Dunning.

The Lady's Tower, built many years ago as a summerhouse served as a changing room for Lady Anstruther, a Naturalist, who swam naked.
Find out more about Elie and where to stay
Elie runs out for a mile around the bay, it takes in from east to west Elie, Liberty, Williamsburgh and Earlsferry which were united as the burgh of Elie and Earlsferry in 1920. The town takes is name from island of Ardross which formed a harbour accessible only at low tide and in 1589 received its royal charter from James VI. Elie then developed as an local centre of boat building, fishing and weaving.
Its attractive harbour, built around the 16th Century, is now ideal for yachts and small craft and is one of few harbours in Scotland to be run by a private company for the people of the burgh. It now has a very busy Water sports centre.Elie has many interesting historic buildings and cottages. One of the most outstanding is the parish church built by Sir William Scott in the 1630. Positioned to the east overlooking Ruby Bay stand the ruins of The Lady's Tower, built in the mid 18th century as a summerhouse, it also served as a changing room for Lady Anstruther, a Naturalist. Elie Rubies are small, red semi-precious garnets, which can be still be found on the beach.
Stunning by moonlight, Kinnoull Hill can be seen from our self catering apartment on the banks of the River Tay, Perth in Scotland. See a video clip from our apartment of Kinnoull Hill.

Anstruther East Neuk of Fife, is an interesting village for a day out with the family.
Anstruther is home of an award winning fish and chip shop, the Anstruther Fish Bar,well worth a tea time visit. Even with the general decline of the Fishing industry Anstruther is still a great attraction because of the Fife Coastal Path and the Scottish Fisheries Museum not to mention the fish and chip shops.

Thank you – we had a wonderful time. In fact your email has prompted us to book again for next year. We enjoyed the two weeks so much we were thinking of taking our whole holiday break at the Nestings (Puffin), August 2008 if available – that is three weeks.
In terms of things to do/see the following are worth doing:
Carnoustie (the nearest large sandy beach)
But ‘n’ Ben restaurant in Auchmithie (just outside Arbroath) has wonderful food, but need to book well in advance.
Glamis castle is a great day out
Village hopping (Elie, St Monans, Pittenween and Anstruther) a nice coastal drive.
Anstruther fish restaurant. Again don’t go too late otherwise the queues extend along the road.
The Cliff top walks on Seaton Cliffs afford amazing views of the coastline.By the way, Pauline the housekeeper was most helpful,
